We left the lights on in the house

shining out the window,

so when you climb the hill

and stand to take a breather,

you’ll see our glow and know

we are all still here, waiting.

You may be stumbling in the dark

afraid and getting tired,

we hope from there you’ll see our house

and use it as a beacon,

to pull you on, up that big hill,

where we’re all still here, waiting.

And if you make it up that hill,

at long last safe from darkness,

the biggest welcome you will get

from every open arm and heart

that wills you on, and hopes you reach us

here, where we are waiting.
