A SOFT IRISH DAY
It was a very Irish day,
soft rain fell
and ran into collected puddles
but slowly, like there was
no hurry on it.
Sheep, sheltering under
the big old tree,
with damp wool,
gave the odd ‘baa’ out at the rain
but they weren’t too bothered.
Gentle rain sat on the green grass,
like shining pearls
layered on a posh frock,
more misty drops
than bucketfuls.
Sure where would we be
without the rain,
a brown barren desert
with harsh light,
and not a pick of grass for the sheep.
