Born in Co. Cavan and now living in Co. Monaghan, Irish artist and poet Roisin Duffy uses her paintings and accompanying poetry to portray her unique view of the world. Working in acrylic on canvas, colour and balance are the most important aspects of her paintings. Her subject matter is the ordinary and the mundane things which are common to us all – home, family, personal relationships, and the connections people have to one another, be it friends, family or total strangers.

The landscapes she paints exist mainly in her imagination, landscapes that relate to the constant human seeking for peace and solitude, and for places that awe the mind and soothe the soul.

Deceptive in its initial simplicity, each piece tells a story, and in writing an accompanying poem for every piece she shares with the viewer not just the finished painting, but also the deeper emotional story behind it.

Roisin has had six solo exhibitions and taken part in numerous group shows. Her work is in the collections of Cavan County Council, The Airfield Trust, Pike Insurances, Bonfire Advertising, and in many private collections from Iceland to Japan.
