GRANNY’S LEMONS

Life will hand you lemons,

Granny said,

the trick is not to suck them dry.

But use them to make

lemonade,

instead.

Take everything you’re given,

she told me, and use it

to the best you can.

Be appreciative,

and positive,

and work for all you have.

There’s little point in

sitting, moaning,

for it doesn’t get you far,

and lemons sucked

instead of drunk

are every bit as sour.

A little bit of sugar in the jug,

is what will do the trick.

And a little bit

of hope

with everything you do in life,

will sweeten it.
