GREEN FINGERS
I love the way
you make green things
grow, and flourish,
under your long fingers,
the same poor plants
that I seem to kill
just by proximity,
or forgetting
water.
I love the way
you make the world
a better place,
by making
flowers bloom,
and colour riot,
while I settle
for plain old green
out of control grass.
I love the way
you know,
instinctively,
which to feed
and which
to pluck,
while I pull the only
potential flower,
mistaken for weed.
Ah, my gardener,
I envy your fingers,
green, and skilled,
and nurturing.
Would you like
to swap
for my murdering
and unfeeling
stumps?
