after long nights

on stormy seas

with no land in sight.

There you are, waiting,

for me to moor up

and make my way

to your warm welcome.

There are steps, leading,

up the cliff edge,

my sea legs shaking

on solid ground.

I reach the top, suddenly,

and I am home.

Safe on dry land,

and where I belong.
