LOVE-BIRDS

Like swans

who mate for life

we are,

soul mates,

parts of a whole,

ying and yang.

Like those

breeding pairs

who never find

a substitute

when one

is lost, that’s us.

I can’t imagine

me, without you,

or you

alone

and me gone,

flown off.

Rooted together

we are,

like reeds

on a riverbank,

like swans

paired,

unable to be

just one,

unwilling to be

a lost and lonely,

separated

swan.
