MY OWN FRONT DOOR

My own front door,

wide and red and handsome,

sturdy and strong enough

to keep out wind and rain,

and robbers and frauds.

My own front door, at last,

on my own wee house

where me and my cats can live,

and spend our days

safe and warm.

My own front door,

that closes against the night

but opens wide for friends,

with the kettle on,

and space and room for all.
