NO ROOM FOR ME

There’s no room for me

on the chair,

no space on the sofa,

and none on the bed.

There’s no room for me

when the cats take over,

they’d nearly sit

on my head.

I keep expecting

to open the fridge,

and find them in there

drinking the milk.

They lie in the sunniest

spot in the house,

too lazy to bother

catching a mouse,

but ready enough

to come running,

when they see that

their food is coming.

And no, I wouldn’t swap,

for space and peace

without them all,

is not the life for me.
