OUR GUIDING LIGHT

There, in the dark sky,

our guiding light

floats,

a million miles away

from home.

With everything lost

and the world

adrift,

we follow our constant,

frozen star.

Past canyons and dangers

and dizzying

drops,

it steers our tired feet

on safe paths,

and cheers our flat hearts

with promises

of peace

just over the next,

darkened hill.
