THE HOUSE BY THE RIVER

A little house sits by the river

with a light on just for me.

It gives me comfort

just to know it’s there.

Long before I see it

from the far side of the river,

I know where I am.

Many people haven’t got

the thing that cheers me on –

a light on in a little house

to help to guide me home.


I count my blessings every day,

to know it shines for me,

this little light, within the home,

that’s waiting there for me.
