THE JUGGLER
Like the stack
of badly-piled dishes
on the sink,
one more thing
would topple me
onto the floor, to sink down
and cry, hot bitter tears
of pure frustration.
One more thing to deal with,
one more job not done
would be the last,
fragile straw,
on an already
overwhelming day,
when everything needs
to be done – right now.
I love my life,
but days like this make me
want to scream,
and run away,
to say ‘I can’t do this’,
to let the juggling balls
drop, and crash uncaught,
to the ground.
But as always, I cope,
jobs worked through
eventually,
even time for a cup of tea.
Another day survived,
its chaos slightly ordered,
and I even find the energy
to smile.
