THE SEARCHERS

The searchers

scan the horizon,

in search of more.

They look for better,

and greener, and new.

I want to shout

‘Look, it’s behind you’,

like a watcher

of a horror film,

on t.v.

They seek what might

be out there,

in the distance,

and never see

what is there, all along.

Home and hearth,

and family, and friends,

a safe space,

a warm house,

and their own waiting place.
