THE TREE-HUGGER

I’ll save the world,

tree by tree,

I’ll save the world,

myself, just me.

I will come out

from behind this tree,

to chant, and march,

‘til they leave it be.

I will be brave

and face it all,

the rumbling chains

the whining saw,

just let me find

my courage first -

and then I’ll step

out to protest.
