MY CASTLE

I built a castle once,

high upon a ridge,

and there I lived

quite happily,

the queen of all I had.

Right next door

was a towering hulk,

of stone and slate

that loomed above,

my tiny little home.

With turrets high

and fortress doors

built to be imposing,

it was far too big and grand

for me to want to live in.

My modest little home

was the castle that I needed,

and though it didn't look like one,

it was my kingdom

and my freedom.
