Would you take your home and all within,

and wrap it in a globe of glass,

where the only peril to penetrate

would be a shaken snowflake?

Would you plump for hidden over living,

would you pick a glass protection

from the world outside?

And if I said the price of choosing

would be paid by isolating,

would you still be quite prepared

to live inside that little bubble?

Disconnected from the world

to keep yourself secure,

seems far too high a cost

for the safety you feel.

I think I'd rather take the risk

to live a little better,

to build a tribe around me

even with the dangers they might harbour.

Life alone but safe

could never match a true connection

with the wider world we live in.
