THE LEMON FARM

They went to Spain and bought a farm

where the ground was dry and dusty,

they thought they'd bought an olive grove

but their Spanish was quite rusty.

They found out what a big mistake

they'd made in their translation,

when in spring the trees bore fruit

of a different vegetation.

It turn out that they'd signed a deal

for a farm of bitter lemons

and not the olives of their dreams

when they'd planned their relocation.

They took a while to mourn the loss

of their long held expectation

but then they rolled their sleeves up

and they began a new direction.

Instead of pressing olive oil

they started squeezing lemons,

adding lots of sugar til they had

a product well worth selling.

Now they have a factory built

to make the lemons liquid,

they're selling lemonade and making

lots of money from their business.

Sometimes, life doesn't go to plan,

and we get stuck on looking back,

but if we keep on going forward

we might find an even better track.
