PATCHWORK FIELDS SHEEP

A wee sheep stood

on top of the rise

and looked out across

the patchwork fields.

He wondered what

the taste would be

of faraway fields

of yellow and green.

Would they be

as sweet as those

that he could reach

from where he stood?

Or does the taste

get so much better

when you have to

travel further?

He didn't know

and doesn't still,

and it doesn't matter,

he's just content to wonder.
